Organization
Network Coordinator
He/she acts as an interface with the European Commission, coordinates the
work of the Steering
Committee in scientific matters and is assisted by a Principal
Administrative Manager for
administrative matters.
Team Coordinator
He/she coordinates the scientific activities of his/her team, is assisted by
an Administrative Manager
in team administrative matters, and is a member of the Steering Committee.
He is responsible for the
organisation and the management of the Network.
Training Coordinator
He/she monitors and coordinates the activities related to the training task
and is a member of the
Steering Committee. Because of the particular importance of the training, a
person is needed with a
great experience and
knowledge about possible difficulties which can be encountered in the
coordination of the training
activities.
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee plays a crucial role in the organization of the
scientific activities in the
Network (young researchers, research and training tasks, conferences,
workshops etc.). It meets at
least once every six months, monitors and coordinates the activities and is
responsible for a rapid
start of all activities at the very beginning of the Project. To keep the
organisation as efficient as
possible, only the team coordinators and the training coordinator
are part of the Steering Committee. The team coordinators have been chosen
such that sufficient
expertise is present in the Steering Committee to monitor and coordinate the
activities in each task.
The Steering Committee is responsible for a periodic transmission of all
relevant information to the
European Commission, in particular of the Mid-Term Review and the Final
Report, taking into account the
number of young researchers appointed, the level of mobility in the network,
the efficiency of the
organization and management, the exchange of information within the
network, and the quality of the
results obtained.
Principal Administrative Manager
He/she acts closely with the Network Coordinator in administrative matters
of the Network and keeps
contacts with the Administrative Managers of the teams.
Information via the web
Information, within and outside the Network, will be exchanged
electronically, in particular through
the web.
The web-server of the Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo `M. Picone''
in Rome will dedicate a
page to the
network with links to each team, containing relevant information (open
positions for young researchers,
workshops, conferences etc). Electronic communication will be extensively
used, open positions for
young researchers will be widely advertised, also through newsletters of
mathematical societies, for
example, and an electronic preprint
service will be available.
Mentors of young researchers
Every young researcher will have an experienced member of the team appointed
as his/her mentor; the
mentor will be responsible for stimulating the integration of the young
researcher into the activities
of the team, providing the relevant local and Network information and
supervising his/her research
activities.
