Jozef Minár (KMANM FMFI UK):

Flow of water suspension in porous media

Abstract:
Our mathematical model is a coupled system for the water suspension
infiltration, silt (uniformly mixed in the water) transport with dispersion
and its deposition in porous media. Filtration function expresses the rate
of silt deposition depending on the amount of (immobile) deposited silt.
Transportation and deposition of silt significantly influences the porosity
and hydraulic permeability which in unsaturated porous media leads
to a strongly coupled and nonlinear systems.
This yields numerical difficulties in construction of efficient numerical
approximation. We will present and compare three different numerical methods
to solve the direct problem. The comparison will be demonstrated by a series
of numerical experiments, which will also confirm the reasonability of our model.
