Extension and Justification of Quasi-Steady State Approximation for Reversible Bimolecular Binding
Abstract:
The quasi-steady state approximation (QSSA) is commonly applied in chemical kinetics without its rigorous justication.
We provide such a justification in the particular case relevant to studies of diffusion in biochemistry:
reversible two-step bimolecular binding, in which molecules reversibly form a transient complex that reversibly transforms to a product.
