Conference Language: English. The time schedule for invited lectures of the conference is 50 minutes including 5 minutes for discussion. Contributed session talks are scheduled for 25 minutes including 5 minutes for discussion. The presentation should be prepared in either Adobe Acrobat PDF file format or as a Microsoft Power Point presentation. Please upload your presentation to the presentation computer 15 minutes before the beginning of the session. You can use your own computer for presentation if it is necessary (please contact the conference organizers for assistance).
Transportation:

To get to Smolenice, you need to get to Bratislava (the capital city of Slovakia) first. In Bratislava, you need to get to the Main Bus station and from there take a bus to Smolenice. You can access Bratislava by train, bus, or plane. Please follow the detailed info below.

BY PLANE:

Bratislava has two airports with direct connection with the city center, the Vienna International Airport (VIE) and the Bratislava Airport(BTS):

By plane arriving to Vienna International Airport (VIE) in Austria: the airport is about 50 km from Bratislava. From the VIE airport take a bus to Bratislava, departing from bus terminal No.4. There are two different bus companies going from the airport to the city center, Slovak Lines and Blaguss. They depart at different times so you might choose whatever is more suitable to you.
  • Slovak Lines: The Slovak Lines bus departs from the bus station 4 at Vienna airport and goes to the Main Bus Station at Mlynske Nivy (Point B in the map).
  • Blaguss: The Blaguss bus departs from the bus station 4 at Vienna airport and brings you Most SNP (Bridge SNP) (Point A in the map). To go from Most SNP to the Main Bus Station to take bus No. 70 or 50.

By plane arriving to Airport Bratislava (BTS):
To get from the airport to the Main Bus Station (Autobusova stanica, Mlynske Nivy), you can:
  • take a taxi - either from the stand right in front of the airport or you can call a taxi by phone. Tel.numbers on some taxi companies: (+421) (0) 2 16555, (+421) (0) 2 16322, (+421) (0) 2 16333. We can't guarantee they speak English on the phone. The taxis standing right in front of the airport are more expensive than when you call a taxi by phone, but it might be easier for you to get one.
  • OR, you can use public transport. To plan your travel from the Airport (Letisko) to the Main Bus Station (Autobusova stanica, Mlynske Nivy) by public transport, please use this webportal for public transportation. There, please adjust the date and time yourself. Tickets for public transport are to be bought at kiosks or yellow ticket-machines at bus stops. Tickets need to be validated after boarding the vehicle.


BY TRAIN:

By train arriving to Bratislava Central Railway Station (Hlavná stanica): To get from Central Railway Station to the Main Bus Station at Mlynske Nivy, you can:
  • take a taxi - either from the stand right in front of the station or you can call a taxi by phone. Tel.numbers on some taxi companies: (+421) (0) 2 16555, (+421) (0) 2 16322, (+421) (0) 2 16333. We can't guarantee they speak English on the phone. The taxis standing right in front of the station are more expensive than when you call a taxi by phone, but it might be easier for you to get one.
  • take trolleybus No. 210 or other lines (trolleybus No. 206, bus No. 21). You can use this webportal for public transportation to plan your journey. There, please adjust the date and time yourself. Tickets for public transport are to be bought at kiosks or yellow ticket-machines at bus stops. Tickets need to be validated after boarding the vehicle.


By train arriving to Petržalka Railway Station (ZST Petržalka): To get from Petržalka Railway Station to the Main Bus Station at Mlynske Nivy, you can:

FROM BRATISLAVA TO SMOLENICE:

From Bratislava main bus station (Autobusova stanica, Mlynske Nivy) to Smolenice: Take a connecting bus from Bratislava Main Bus Station to Smolenice. Busses to Smolenice usually depart from bus stop No. 45 or 46. Tickets are to be bought directly from the driver when boarding. To plan the journey, please follow this webportal for intercity transportation. Take a direct bus connection to Smolenice (it takes approximately 1hour 15min). Get off at the bus station Smolenice OcU (Obecny Urad - Municipal Office) which is approximately 500m far from the entrance to the Smolenice Castle.

How to use the webportal for intercity transportation: 1. In the right bottom corner of the website you can switch the language to English, 2. type/choose From: Bratislava AS (stop, district Bratislava), To: Smolenice, OcÚ , 3. check "Direct connections only", 4. set up the date and time, 5. Click "SEARCH".

Social programme:

One may choose one of the following trips on Wednesday afternoon:
  • A guided tour to Jaskyna Driny (Driny Cave). Jaskyna Driny is located only at 3 km distance from the castle. The Driny Cave is the only show cave in the western Slovakia and one of the main tourist attractions of the Lesser Carpathians. As compared with other show caves in Slovakia, where usually larger underground spaces prevail, it represents a system of narrow fissure passages, however with beautiful dripstone decoration.   • or, a hiking tour to Smolenice karst mountain range region. Departing from the Smolenice castle (elevation 293m) we will take a hike tour to the top of hill Zaruby (elevation 768m). The hike will be through the forest, part of a protected landscape area which houses a diverse wildlife and plants. The distance between Smolenice and Zaruby is about 4.2km. There are nice views to the Smolenice karst area. It is recommended to take appropriate shoes. The approximate length of the hike is 12km"
Wednesday evening: Conference Dinner - Raut. Accompanied by music performance of Peter Adamov live band playing jazz standards, pop tunes, classics, bossanova, samba, swing and other styles.

Thursday evening: Wine degustation and wine tasting at the Smolenice Castle Chapel guided by winemaker and taster Peter Križan. The tasting includes 10 wine samples including white, rose, red and berry wine.
