Dear colleagues,

While the official deadline for applications is over; it seems we still may have funding for one
more exceptional PhD student in the newly established £5m Doctoral Training Centre in Data
Science here in Edinburgh:

We admit around 10 students each year, starting in the Fall of 2014.

If there is an outstanding student who might be interested; please ask him/her to contact me
as soon as possible by email; but certainly within a week from now. I will then try to help the
student maximize his/her chances of success.

I will spare you of the boring technical details - but I estimate the chances of a strong applicant
could be somewhere between 1/8 to 1/2; depending on quality. Students with background in
mathematics (EFM, pure, applied, statistics) or informatics would be suitable.

Please note that the student would need to act extremely quickly.

Najprestiznejsie su : Fox Prize (2013; second prize) a INFORMS
Computing Society Best Student Paper Prize (2012).

Fox Prize nie je studentska cena; ale medzinarodna cena udelovana
'mladym' matematikom (do 31 rokov) v oblasti
numerickej analyzy raz za dva roky.

Súčasne je na tomto štúdiu absolvent bakalárskeho štúdia EFM Jakub Konečný, ktorý už v prvom roku publikoval spoločnúprácu s Martinom Takáčom
