The mODa12 workshop is going to be held in Smolenice Castle - the Congress Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Smolenice is a village in the western part of Slovakia, located about 60 km north-east of the capital city Bratislava. The Castle, surrounded by a beautiful English park, towers above Smolenice in the eastern foothills of Male Karpaty (the Small Carpathians). The Castle was preceded by a fort watching the Czech Road that was destroyed and abandoned in the late 18th century. From this medieval stronghold only a part of the outside rampart with a cannon bastion is preserved. Renovation of the castle in the Romantic style, which began in the late 19th century, was finished in 1955.
